Grew up in Haugesund. Studied medicine at the University of Bergen. I have been painting for around 30 years, and art has been a strong and important passion throughout my life. Alongside upper secondary school I took weekly art classes in Kopervik, and over the years I have taken various courses and continually explored and developed my artistic expression.

A year ago I chose to commit fully to art. The decision grew out of an inspiring trip to Italy, where I took a painting course. Since then I have held exhibitions and completed a number of commissions.

In my work I turn toward Nordic nature — the landscapes, the stillness and the shifting moods. I paint mainly in oil and work layer by layer to create depth, life and a tactile surface. Texture is an important part of the expression, like traces of nature’s own forces.

Light is central in my paintings. It can be soft and quiet, or powerful and changeable — as it moves across mountains, forest, sea and open landscapes. I want to capture the moments when nature touches us, and create images that awaken feelings, memories and a sense of closeness to what surrounds us.
